From Dumfries take the A711 to Dalbeattie, go through Dalbeattie taking the A710 signposted Colvend. Just past Dalbeattie the official 7 Stanes carpark is on your left hand side, or continue on to Colvend/Rockcliffe for alternative starting points.

There are two FC car parks for Dalbeattie - the "Town Woods" car park and the Richorn carpark. The latter, situated at the trailhead, is the designated 7Stanes car park and has a hose and brush beside the trail map board. Starting in Rockcliffe or Colvend are alternatives to the official car park to the 7stanes rides in Dalbeattie forest.
Cafes, shops, toilets and accommodation may be found less than a mile away in Dalbeattie village, whilst the nearest bike shops are Castle Douglas Cycle Centre and Next Level Bikes in Castle Douglas.
In terms of riding, Dalbeattie offers a good mix of firetrack, offroad and some technically challenging bits including the slab and terrible twins. The way marked trails include a green, blue and red-graded trail with numerous black options. There is also a skills area and short taster loop.
