Description:-
This is classic Lakeland mountain biking that takes you away from the busy honeypots along some little known historic bridleways.
You are rewarded with some technical climbs and descents with Coniston Old Man looking down on you and views of Morecambe Bay in the distance.
The route takes advantage of some recent upgrades and extensions to the bridleway network including the Yewdale bridleway (which avoids using the A593) and the Coniston lakeshore cycleway.

Description:-
The first section down Yewdale follows a recent new bridleway (BW)in the woods, paralleling the A593. This is a delightful warm up on a well surfaced path with some flow as it meanders around the trees and crosses fords.
Refuel in Coniston before you take the infamous Walna Scar Road rising like a rocket launch pad, albeit on a ribbon of tarmac initially. You'll be glad of that to help gain some height! The "road" turns to stoney BW (double track) and levels off slightly. On your right is the might of Coniston Old Man.
