Done this route on the 7th April 2018, it poured down the whole ride and the singletrack parts were like rivers rather then trails but was brilliant fun. Climb out of Baybridge to the top is as tough... read whole comment...

Description:-
A classic route from the "Beyond Hamsterley" book. Taxing uphills, mainly on tarmac or unsurfaced road, more than made up for with superb singletrack downhills across the moors. The long descent back to Edmundbyers is superb.

Easy to follow. Long steady climb but not overly steep. Fun descent! The teashop is indeed excellent, as was the pub in Edmonbyers

Length: 18.4 Miles
Ascent: 378 m
Time: 4 hrs
Tech Grade: Moderate

Description:-
A southern loop out of Edmondbyers taking in parts of the Waskerley Way and sharing the same final downhill section as the Blanchland loop. Tough going in places especially when wet. As for Blanchland loop most climbing is on tarmac or unsurfaced tracks. Great views across to the Cheviots and Weardale from the moors. The downhill section on sketchy, sandy, singletrack off Bolt's Law is at least as good as the downhill section into Edmondbyers on the Blanchland loop. Take some cash. The reward for the first uphill slog to and along the Waskerley Way to Parkhead Station is the excellent teashop/B&B at this point. (Tag1) It's on the (C2C route).

Stunning scenery and fun moorland descents. Seven hours is a bit of an overestimation, I managed it in about three on my single speed with no stops. Also worth noting that the left hand turn after the... read whole comment...

This is a good route that I have done several times. Last time I did this my freehub collapsed at the top of the downhill to Edmondbyers but that didn't matter ! .The skyline version I have added is a... read whole comment...
