Length: 24.1 Miles
Ascent: 660 m
Time: 3 hrs
Tech Grade: Easy
Fitness Grade: Hard
Av. Trail Rating:

Description:-
A long slog up fireroads through Simonside is rewarded by an exciting descent down to Hepplewhitefield. The route then winds along the banks of the River Coquet on bridleways, through grassy fields and on minor roads. A short blast up the main road takes you to Thropton, where you turn off on to more fireroad climb across the moors above Rothbury and Cragside. The descent then takes you around the perimeter of the Cragside estate and down into Rothbury itself. The only thing left to do is the steep climb back up to Simonside car park, initially on tarmac, then unsurfaced road, then bridleway across fields.
