Did this route yesterday, and really enjoyed it. Some stunning views along the way. Couple of points for those considering doing the route. The elevation map is a bit misleading as it shows a flat run in. This is actually at the end not the start, so you're straight into a punishing ascent. The other steep ascent proved a little problematic as it is through a field with no track. There has also been a recently planted wood so taking a diagonal across the field is not possible. We ended up pushing the bikes straight up. Was fine as not long after we were rewarded with some nice downhill. Cheers to original poster

Just did this route earlier today, started at Blair Logie, wich gave a mile or so on flat to warm up legs before hitting the hill. managed to pedal all the way up, never managed that on my road bike :-(. 1st part v muddy, but once on the other side of the road, was good fun. Good brakes needed!!

considered your comments linnman and have changed the fitness grade to hard after reading the site definition apolagies for any discomfort caused to your wife, in my defence I did say the climb up to sherrifmuir was a lung buster :-) Tech grade I think is fair compared to other routes I know. Glad you enjoyed it and commented , thanks.

I really enjoyed this but my wife found it to be a significant challenge. I'm not sure I agree with your ratings: the climb up to Sheriffmuir requires a high level of fitness, not moderate and the technical grade is definitely not easy in the conditions we found - it was extremely muddy and the descent is pretty steep. I'd therefore say tech grade is moderate in certain conditions and the fitness grade is hard.
